Next time somebody wants to talk about how Cincinnati "gifted" us a playoff win, I'm going to give their name and IP address to Ryan Shazier and Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown, all of whom took the hearts out of the Bengals that night.
What a great win.
What a great win.

I had forgotten how Burfict et al. ran into the tunnel and then didn't get penalized for it.
Or, that last fumble...

Indeed ... I would still like to hear from the NFL how Burfict's running the length of the field, with teammates, doesnt count as excessive celebration...

Ever hear Dameshek on the WDVE morning show?
He's clearly one of those people that loves nothing more than listening to himself talk. Dude just does not shut up. They'll ask him a simple question, and he'll go on a 3 minute rant and won't let anyone else get a word in edgewise.
I've gotten to the point where I have to change the station every time he's on.

Glad you mentioned the Tunnel event.
Does ANYBODY know why there was no flag or at least a comment afterwards.
By definition, that IS excessive celebration or at least un-sportsman like conduct.

Agree. I don't remember what the TO situation was, but there was still a little time left on the clock. It's not impossible that even without the penalties that Ben could have completed a pass into FG range with enough time for Bos to line up and kick the winner. And sometimes the key to winning is simply not making as many mistakes as your opponent. Gift indeed.
It was a rollercoaster ride watching it, but seeing that again now makes me feel like it was really a fun win. What a way to rip the hearts out of team/fanbase.
How immature the Bengals were. Here's a case where "we do what we do" can be seen as a positive (since it's so often thrown around here as a negative). One team melted down due to a complete lack of character. One team did what they do, retained their composure, and won the game.

A.J. McCarron brought the Bengals back from 15-0. A.J. McCarron.

Reminds us how clutch Shazier was in that game. Brutal hits (that only in this day of pussified football would be frowned upon as dirty) and of course the game saving strip of that fuckstick Hill.

Three scoring drives...THREE...from him.
In less than a quarter.
That never should have happened.

Is there a part of Landry Jones that you don't understand?
P.S.: That A.J. Green guy is pretty good.

Oh please. Burfict, but especially Jones "moroned" the Steelers into FG range. All Jones has to do is not be a utter dumbfuk and Cincy more than likely wins.
Ben, AB, and Shazier playing with guts and doing everything possible to win does not negated the impact of Burfict and Jones' stupidity at all.
If not a "gift" win, it was sure as shit a self-implosion of a loss.

This played right afterwards, for those who haven't seen it.
Raise you hand if you think the NFL broadcasts should have an option to listen to the mic'd up version instead of the broadcasters. How much better an understanding of the game when you hear what goes on during the game from those involved?

Without Burfict's PF, the Steelers were in pretty much the same situation faced by the KC Chiefs in that MNF game a few weeks ago that Swissvale is so bent out of shape about. They probably had 3 plays to get 12 yards and a spike to make it a 50 yarder. I think the chances of that scenario were pretty good, even without the penalty. Bear in mind they had just moved 44 yards in a minute.
Even so, the game was won by the coach who kept his players just on the right side of the poise/violence line and lost by the one who did not. If anything, this game is an example of the difference great coaching makes.

Great coaching? IMO it's about a Burfict roughing penalty and PacMan Jones being the thug he is....with an assist from Joey Porter.

I took away your YouTube tags. Remember- NFL-created YouTube content will not play in embedded video mode.
And yes- I think we should have that option.

Yeah, I'd choose that.bradshaw2ben wrote:Raise you hand if you think the NFL broadcasts should have an option to listen to the mic'd up version instead of the broadcasters. How much better an understanding of the game when you hear what goes on during the game from those involved?
On a side note, I don't mind players talking or engaging with the opponent after games, but AB telling OBJ to "stay positive and let the game come to him" DURING the game is bullshit.
And the Giants 98 (Harrison) is a beast. Nix looked like he ran into a concrete block wall on one play.
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Wow. A LOT of calories loaded up in that cupcake.
I give you credit for constantly raising the bar for yourself in defending Tomlin.
Let's just ignore the other 59:30 of what was, except for an extraordinary event, a losing coaching performance. A Burfict meltdown somehow turns a turd into an example of great coaching.
Wow wow wow....I mean, you have to be trolling at this point?

How could it be 59:30 of losing coaching performance when the Steelers were leading 15-0 going into the 4th quarter? It was a winning coaching performance most of the game.
People make it sound like no one associated with the Steelers had anything to do with the win. A lot of Steelers went to a lot of effort to get that win, and they might have pulled it off even without the late penalties. And I'm sorry, but the fact that the Steelers kept their poise while the Bengals were melting down is to Tomlin's/the Steelers' credit.

Todman and Toussant balled against Cinci. Shazier was a maniac.

They had 18 seconds, no timeouts, and a QB who could barely get the ball ten yards down the field.
They had managed to drive from the 9 to the Bengals 47 without the aid of the penalty, but with the aid of a lot of RAC. Couldn't necessarily rely on that again with no timeouts and Cincy likely ceding the deep pass.
Not QUITE the same situation as the Chiefs there.
