He got his birth year tattoed on his kneecaps?!? That sounds rather unpleasant.

What, exactly, sounds good about it?

Are you watching the games? Nope.

What will you say to your teammates? Nothing.

Will you apologize to Ben? Nope.

Better than saying "Ben, I'm sorry I got caught"

I used to just show up on Saturday and ball out. Show up on Sunday and ball. I never trained in the off-season. Maybe like once a month. My first year, I went to L.A. in the off-season and I was good during that first week. Then there wasn’t any more training.

Wow.

I mean, if he actually stays on the straight and narrow and puts in a little work over the summer, he could be a monster.

On the other hand, I'm absolutely stunned that a guy with the opportunity he had could possibly be this lazy.

Ive been saying this for years. This is exactly who he is. Elite athlete, all God given. Cant talk to him. Cant trust him. He's done.

He isnt exagerrating his workouts. He did absolutely NOTHING here at Clemson. That somersault catch in the Endzone? He may not have ever watched the replay unless forced to.

BTW, He is the only type of viable NFL level talent you get for that SoCal developmental league, so good luck with that.....

I got nothing good out of that at all.

You could maybe read in a bit of defensiveness, but this is twisting the man's words.
He said he reduced his inner circles and moved away from the places that were leading him to temptation.
He said he expects to show his teammates and his QB on the field.
That's exactly what I want to hear from a dude who gave lip service to the problem before he actually addressed it.

Getting tattooed on areas directly on bone is not as painful as you might suppose. A lot of snow flakes can't deal with the elbow, but I took it like a champ. The arm pit area however....

I did not read the article. I only listened and watched the video

Bryant makes the Steelers offense...The best in the NFL bar none.

I hope he learns from his mistakes

All of us make mistakes. The key is to acknowledge them, learn, and move on. The real sin is ignoring mistakes, or worse, seeking to hide them.

Color me skeptical. It looks and sounds like he's got a serious chip on his shoulder. And I'm not sure it's in a good way. He also has difficulty with eye contact.

He also sounds exactly the same as he did when he was with the team.

And then there's the "Me being out this year done made me grew up " inspires zero confidence this kid has more than two brain cells rubbing together.

the video is more encouraging than just reading the words in the interview. I would think Ben will be all about Bryant's actions and not care about an apology.

I believe I posted this earlier in the year but maybe not everyone saw it....

This past summer I rented a house in Hermosa Beach, CA with my friend and his family. He used to live out there and still has quite a few friends still out there.

So I'm in Hermosa Beach on day 1 and I meet my friend's friend who has a gym out there and has trained NFL players, etc.

I'm wearing a Steelers t-shirt and he says "oh brother, not another one."

Anyway, he says "so I guess you know who Martavis Bryant is?"

"Of course" I respond.

Tells me that he bought a condo about 300 yards from where I was standing.....and that Martavis is seen around town with drug dealers at ATM's.....

That's the story. Told me Martavis spends his days and nights getting high and not working out.

So if that were true....

Year 1 to year 2 - his body transformed noticeably. DHB raved about his working out. At least some effort was made. I hoped Coates would be a small drop off, but no such luck. They are worlds different in talent, speed, and size.

Agree with most. The written interview he comes off as arrogant and immature. He'd sure better apologize to Ben and the Team.
The video seems better, but then they didn't really ask the tough questions.

I do believe he'll stay clean for next season. I just want us to Win THIS YEAR, without him!!!

If that same Ben doesn't need to apologize for blowing the game at the end on Sunday.

IMO, tattoos on soft tissue areas are 1000xs worse.

What I took away from that interview (both the video and the Q & A) is that Martavis is who he is whether we like it or not, whether Pittsburgh likes it or not and whether the NFL likes it or not. He has adopted a more beneficial approach and is evolving into a better man. Arranged his life in an order that he feels is best for him. Bryant does apologize to "everyone" and follows up that seemingly humble and heartfelt apology with a statement. They'll see; they'll see on the field. Does Bryant have to cry and beg for forgiveness? No, not at all. I think Martavis spoke well of himself as the rule offending villain making amends while learning from his poor choices. I'm rooting for this guy.

Steelers should hire like 10 former players who ruined their career by doing dumb shit and are broke with real jobs now. Have them talk to the players a couple times every year and fill them in on the joy of getting up and going to work every day for the rest of their lives. Maybe that would scare some smarts into them.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Great Point AZ.

God knows getting up to drag your ass off to a place that doesn't appreciate you, underpays you all while expecting perfection is a dread I don't wish on anyone.

I have to admit watching the interview gave me a different impression than just reading it did.

I'm pulling for the kid but when all is said and done the above story is more likely than not to be close to what will actually happen. He'll fuck himself out of the league and out of a mountain of dough. In return fucking the Steeler offense out of some serious potential for all time greatness.

It has that potential, for sure. And could be the very day he steps back on the field if that ever happens.

It would certainly be the most dynamic.

I would probably be close to stunned if we ever hoist a Lombardi with Bryant playing a part (sad to write and as things stand today). I am open to my perception changing on that.

Smoking pot all the time tends to lead to laziness. Maybe if he actually has gotten off the herb he might actually become a little more motivated to make something out of himself.

Really? I kinda think there's a great possibility of a Steelers SB with both of them next year. This team is going to take a healthy step forward next year without MB. But add him? That just makes it not even fair to the rest of the NFL. So, I think he's going to hold it together long enough to get a C2 signed. That makes the Steelers the SB favorite next year, imo.
