2017 Rock HOF embarrassment
https://www.rockhall.com/class-2017-inductions
I don't have any specific beef with the choices (I hate most Journey, but they were big), but the Cleveland eighties-hating boomers running that shit show are so narrow minded.
Kraftwerk was nominated this year and didn't get in. Steve Miller got in last year. One is comedian fodder, the other is arguably the most influential group in modern pop music and the foundation of all dance music.
No Cure? No Bangles? No Kate Bush? MC5 (arguably more influential than the Stones) was nominated and not in?

You kind of had me right up until you said The Bangles.....I mean, no Debbie Gibson?

Ben comes back, Tomlin doesn't = CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

The fact that The Smiths are still waiting to get in speaks volumes as well. Arguably the most important British band after the Beatles & Stones.

Ya but Susanna Hoffs was pretty hot back in the day. Those eyes...
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 85 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Agree with Smiths.
Bangles had a lot of hits including the number one hit of 1987. And Hoffs is still a stone fox. More deserving than Joan Baez who is really folk. Bangles are certainly more important that Steve Fucking Miller and Buffalo Fucking Springfield.
But I'd put the Cure in first though. That's vital eighties soundtrack. If they had a few more Gen Xers on the panel that would be a no brainer. Kate Bush too.

Not even has Can yet been inducted (and if you don't know the band Can, I feel sorry for you). Talk about overlooking a giant of rock whose tentacles of influence are beyond number. The rock hall is stupid.
Regarding modern dance music and zee Germans Kraftwerk, I think maybe Tangerine Dream are as influential.

If the Pistols are in because of influence, I don't know how Kraftwerk isn't.
Maybe their nihilism is keeping them out:

At least the Nazis have an ethos.
Also if the Pistols are in, how is MC5 not in?

It's not but neither is anything R and B or folk, the definition has expanded. NWA is in.
They should have just called it the Popular Music Hall of Fame or change it now.
But they're stuck in Cleveland.
