So basically I take that as there is a long road ahead of this team so don't expect too much going forward- We're not going to cure our ills in one or a couple of good days or a good plan or a good performance.
If you could see the problem developing over a period of time why was nothing done to fix the problem?-We didn't dig ourselves into this circumstance in one day and we are not going to dig ourselves out of it in one day.
No shit! We can look at the 6 good plays the team had and say good job as opposed to holding players accountable for the 40 minutes of terrible tape put out.-It's probably easier to point to the things that happened positively than the myriad of things that didn't go well
This is where the audio cut out of press conference and basically ended probably less than 4 minutes into it. Why do I assume that the technical difficulties were not accidental?
presser resumes about 5 minutes after audio went down.
Tomlin goes on to praise the Buccaneers
Sutton - hamstring injury
Fitzpatrick - knee issue
Wallace - concussion protocol
Witherspoon - hamstring issue
Okunjobi - back issue
Muuth - concussion protocol
Gentry - knee issue
Adams - hip issue
Participation will be the guide as to availability
Tom Brady is going to be shredding a defensive backfield that is probably going to be missing at least 2 starters if not more counting nickel and dime packages.
"Word Salad Mode" activated.-We are not going to seek comfort in that component of it, when you have an opportunity to put together a plan based on known circumstances.........
That is some fairly ripe BS there. Fucking guys in a living room with a cold beer in there hand can tell quite often there is a huge difference between a starting caliber player and a warm body with a jersey on. While it may have been true on Bill Cowher's teams that a backup and a starter may be similar in skill it is not the case with Mike Tomlin's teams. The drop off from starter to backup is usually pretty big. Unless we are talking about going from "starter" Mitch Trubisky to "backup" Kenny Pickett.Often times we say in the NFL that there is not a lot of difference between a starter and a non starter other than opportunity.
Word Salad Mode re-activated.Cliches are cool but guys that make the most of their opportunities make cliches real
When asked if he may need to get involved with the offense Tomlin states he is not running and hiding he is and has been involved in the offense. That may be why the offense has been below the line if you will for a time now.
There is more word salad to parse through but Coach Tomlin didn't make any statements about adjustments that need to be made. He just said that they will roll up their sleeves and go to work this week. Tomlin will not seek comfort. I did like that during the Q& A he said that they were thinned out due to attrition Larry O could not finish the game but just 3 minutes before he stated that there is not much difference in the NFL between starter and back up other than opportunity to play. That sounds like a contradiction to this layman's untrained ear.
Is it? Seems to me that the rear view mirror holds more of the good Tomlin has done unfortunately that was in 2008/09 back when Ben won some playoff games for Coach.-Our windshield is bigger than our rear view. We can waste a lot of time thinking about things that have transpired.
