Pickens is going to be a problem. And the “players coach” will enable him until it destroys the locker room…AGAIN!Kodiak. wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 1:51 amWho doesn't want the ball?!? That's just excusing immature selfishness. EVERYONE wants the ball. Only me-first dicks cry so badly when it doesn't happen that they become a distraction.

Re: The team wr group
Yes he is immature, young and a rookie. They can coach him up. He's also super talented. That can't be coached. I'd much prefer a guy that is over aggressive in wanting the ball thrown to him than someone that doesn't give a shit. We've all seen those athletes that barely care about the game, especially after they get paid. I'd bet Pickens is a guy that wants the ball in clutch situations throughout his career no matter what his next contract looks like. Sure, his attitude needs to get better but no player is perfect. I don't see it as a big deal. Now if he's doing the same shit game after game and Tomlin still isn't doing anything about it, there's a problem. Getting pissed once in a while and mouthing off is part of the game imo. Tom freaking Brady was going off the other night because he was stinking up the joint for 3 and a half quarters. I like to see guys that care show it sometimes. It's a hell of a lot better that Johnson saying stupid shit like they're still coming to the games to see me or whatever he said a few weeks ago after dropping a couple balls. That's another reason Pickens should be the #1 on this team.Kodiak. wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 1:51 amWho doesn't want the ball?!? Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

This is exactly what I think. There are far worse things than a WR wanting the ball.
“I’d rather say ‘Whoa’ than ‘Sic ’em,'” Tomlin said Tuesday. “I want a guy that wants to be a significant part of what it is that we do. Now, the appropriate and professional and mature way to express that, we’re growing and working on, and we will continue to. But that spirit, that competitive spirit, the guy that wants the ball. I want that guy.”
In my Bill Lumbergh voice “that would be greeeeaaaat.”

I think Pickens wanted to do well in Atlanta in front of friends and family. He got frustrated. When I rewatched the game, I saw that the Falcons, almost always, rotated a safety over Pickens at the snap.

Once they know they can frustrate him and throw him off his game, and exactly how they can do it...
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
if the strategy to get pickens off his game is to double cover him leaving others open so that we don’t throw to him,
Not sure how that hurts us.
Other than having to watch diontae and sims flub tons of catchable passes i guess.
I just heard that entire Q & A session…yeah!
If he's potentially our best WR (and if he's not, he's not far off), the missing big plays once he's pouting, rounding off his routes, etc. are definitely an issue. Can't see why other teams wouldn't copycat the strategy, either, until it stops working. Hopefully it's just a part of the learning process.

Teams doubled AB for years and he still caught over 100 balls. It's all about the offense and getting your best player the ball instead of throwing a small guy with questionable hands contested balls. Did anyone other than Canada really want that jump ball in the endzone going to Johnson? The only reason Pickens didn't get targets is because this offense is shit. Seeing some improvement the last couple weeks is like giving a starving man a cracker. We're over here thankful for 19 points against the freaking Falcons.

AB could beat double coverage. By most accounts, Pickens is still struggling to beat man coverage consistently.
If you want the ball more, then start getting open on regular basis Clayturd...I mean Pickens.
THAT is the message he needs to hear. Not a pat on the butt for wanting the ball more.

George Pickens will start more games this season, than Antonio Brown started his first 3 years in the NFL.
The guy is a rookie and his QB is a rookie.
Antonio Brown had 19 targets as a rookie, playing with a superstar, Super Bowl winning QB. Let's give Pickens a break here.
Dude is still learning on the job as is his QB.

KC and I went around and around about Pickens this summer. We fully agreed about his elite level talent.
I have spent the last 43 years evaluating college students. I told KC--before the first regular season game--that it was even money between Pickens being part of the solution/part of the problem. I see things trending toward problem. He seems to be the same guy who often went dipshit in college. At crucial times too.
Hope he proves me 100% wrong. He has the talent to do it.

Pickens does not have AB's or DJ ability to get open via quickness.RemoAZ wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 5:58 pmTeams doubled AB for years and he still caught over 100 balls. The Steelers need another threat at receiver so they can't always rotate to Pickens

Your eye for wide receiver talent is even worse than quarterbacks.
Maybe football just isn't your game,
I know.
Let's have a spelling contest.
Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
Once again, I didn't say Pickens isn't talented. I said he's not getting open all that much, which most people actually watching the games seem to agree with.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 1:11 amGeezus H

But, hey, just looked and Josh Allen is up to 5th in the AFC in QBR! But only #2 in his own division.

Coming off a knee surgery will cause a player of his skill to drop into the 2nd round. He may have even gone in the 3rd if he had not come back and made some catches in the NCAA playoffs.

I was listening to Matt Williamson's Scouts Eye podcast last night and he was talking about how the Ravens keep their starting corners usually on one side of the field or the other. They don't move them from left to right with a WR very often so that makes for a good chance to force a match up with Pickens and see if he can take advantage of one of them if not both of them.
Maybe then everyone can stop questioning the character and intelligence of someone they have never even been within fifty yards of. I am sure George wanted to have a good game in Atlanta and have all the shine on him just like anyone would. Dealing with a tough day when you wanted to good is a great learning tool. When they go over the all22 film if he was running lazy routes he will hear about it. Maybe he decides to take it out on Baltimore and puts on a show.
For all we know Tomlin (an ex WR) may have had them intentionally keep the ball from him to see how fired up he could get the kid just so he can "unleash hell" on Baltimore in the form of one George Pickens.

The real issue is Pickett can’t throw the ball that far and all the Steelers WRs know it

What hurts is having the same assertations that you make, over, and over, and over, and over, and over.... Apparently you still need to learn that the best part of banging your head on a wall is the feeling of when you stop.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 11:53 amIf it wasn’t true you 2 would not be bothered by itK_C_ wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 11:42 amHe's here to troll. It's one thing to have an opinion, and even as much as I tend to disagree with you, there are times where I have agreed, and even some issues where you bring up points that I haven't thought of and you have swayed my opinion. What you are saying is not what hurts; it is the sheer volume (read: quantity) of what you say and how you say it that hurts. Trust me, we all know your position, you no longer need to be shouting it from the roof tops...
Imagine if we said that you were a failed stock trader because you lost money on a few key stock picks on your first 12 stock picks when you first started trading stocks? Some of those losses you should have known about some fundamentals and ignored them anyway (and that's how you learn not to ignore them by the way). Some of the losses were fluky circumstances, like a worldwide pandemic breaking out (would never happen right), or you invested in a company just before they were busted for corporate fraud and lying on their books... But then imagine if we not only said you weren't a good stock picker, but instead made it our mission to convince everyone in the free world that you weren't a good stock picker. Further, what if we make at least 3 poasts a day about how bad you pick stocks, that anyone could tell that the company was fraudulent, and every other poast we make on any other thread, regardless of subject, we try and work it back around to how terrible of a stock picker you are. Then anytime you wanted to have an intelligent conversation about why you made the choices, our only responses to you would be some silly elementary emoji's... Is that truth?
The truth isn't what hurts, its what sets us free.... hopefully someday you will learn what Truth really is.

OK, time for me to confess that I know next to nothing about stock market investing... I was just trying to relate something to STD using an example from another topic that he claims to be an expert in. I know the attempt to use logic and examples are beyond a gorilla's brain power to absorb, so I truly do take the blame for that.
About 12 years ago, my ex left me and our kids, went through a very messy and costly divorce. Good news is that I got the kids and was able to raise them in a stable environment (I have always given gracious access for the kids with her, and even have paid for most of their visits, groceries, transportation, and whatnot). Bad news is it just about made me flat broke, I still haven't tallied up all my legal bills because I don't want the depression that number would cause, I know its north of $100K. For 8 years I had to pay $1005.00 monthly spousal support to her and raise the kids, all the while she has remained un-employed and never paid a cent in Child Support. Long story short, kids are growing and starting to leave the nest, I'm starting to have some disposable income again and now that I have a bit of an emergency fund built up I want to start investing but I'm not sure where to begin, or if this is a good time to enter the market. If you want to help this idiot, and sometimes pussy (when it comes to investing, cause I don't have much $ to play with) out with some advise, I'll take anything I can.
When it comes down to it, I'm just sick and tired of STD ruining yet another Steelers Season for me with his inane postings on this esteemed site. I have been a lurker here for close to 20 years (Stillers.com era) have enjoyed the site and banter immensely over the years, but I'm just not sure I can take much more of STD's rhetoric. Especially without FC's gospel, or Hardnose's MMQB articles, or Drama's old posts, or all the other great poasters who seem to have moved on...
