Rhianna at halftime of the SB.
That sounds great.

He's too afraid, among all things Tomlin is afraid of, of himself/his coaches/or players getting burnt out trying to win every week damnit.
This was made painfully clear a few years ago when I remember Tomlin, Rooney and possibly Colbert all being quoted as saying something along the lines of "the playoffs are a lottery ticket". When you have that view, you probably don't see value in seeding and byes.
That view also kind of gives the coaches a pass - it's a crapshoot, what more could you have done?!?!

49ers offense didn’t score a TD that entire half. Their D gets a pass to give up 6 straight TD drives now right?

This is probably the one game Tomlin watches this weekend. And he's saying to himself "yeah, we're close".Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:48 am49ers offense didn’t score a TD that entire half. Their D gets a pass to give up 6 straight TD drives now right?
No, Mediocrates, no you're not.

The silver lining to having a mediocre team like this year's edition is that the Steelers are no longer good enough to have trap games. If the 2022 team was as good as the teams from 2014-2018, then I guarantee the 2022 team would have lost a few against the terrible teams they played in the latter half of the season. The Raiders would have definitely been a loss, and probably the Falcons or some other terrible team. But NHALS compelled Tomlin to pay attention to the crappy teams and make an actual effort instead of trying to coast on having superior personnel.Kodiak. wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:47 amThat's what happens when the HC is far too comfortable.W&M_Steeler wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:39 amWhen your team consistently loses trap games, its hard to get the #1 or #2 seed.

Don't want to get into Purdy vs Pickett but.....
Is there a single player on the Steelers offense who would start for the 49ers? Pickens would be part of 3 wr sets. Who else?
Also, Canada vs Shanahan.
You can't really compare. They are playing different sports.

But why isn’t their defense imploding all over itself? How can that be? How can they create a turnover?K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:50 amTheir offense put up 6 points.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:48 am49ers offense didn’t score a TD that entire half. There is not. SFs scout team middle linebackers are all pros compared to Devin Bush.

You might be right - extenuating circumstances might have forced Tomlin and co. to focus. But Tomlin's teams have historically done poorly against the Raiders, even when the Raiders were awful.
Dak Prescott and Patrick Mahomes are very different football players.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:54 amBut why isn’t their defense imploding all over itself? How can that be? The only positive I can think of for having a Rhaianna halftime is that a lot of AV folks will get paid.
Other than that, isn't it about time for a classic rock act, or is that not permitted. Def Leppard, Billy Joel, AC/DC...
But no, Rhianna.

My memory of a lot of those losses is turnovers and a defense folding like a cheap tent on a short field digging an early hole, Ben draggging PIT back into it with hero ball, and then the defense simply incapable of making critical stops.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:54 amBut why isn’t their defense imploding all over itself? We have a defense built to preserve NHALS, not win championships.

Our starting WRs are every bit as talented as Aiyuk. Are the 49ers interior linemen any higher pedigree than ours or is it they are just in a better system? The OC and play calling is a far bigger difference than the talent.

Feel like they've done that, and they've often been way too far past their primes. It also is a little weird to have an act who's heyday pre-dates when any of the players were born.
I'm sure Eminem will be the big surprise for Rhianna's performance.
