From a Seattle Seabirds blog: Kubiak isn't just an example of one-year greatness. He has been an OC twice before in the NFL, and his teams were productive before they were mangled by injuries. That didn't happen with the Seahawks in 2025, and people saw what a Kubiak offense was capable of.

MM Kubiak had a stint with Saints and it wasn't anything to sprint over broken glass over. He is a risk but so is any young coach.

Wahoo! I've come a long way from defending Tomlin years ago. The Browns playoff game in which the opposing coach wasn't even on the sideline was my breaking point. I feel like Charlie Brown making solid contact with that football!!

That was a game that gave me pause...to say the least. And it presaged all the playoff catastrophes to come!

Harbaugh is more overrated than Tomlin. Harbaugh had a Sb roster for at least 4 years and figured out a myriad of ways to cock it up.

As much as I am happy to see Tomlin gone? If Tomlin had Lamar, he would have at very least made a SB. For one simple reason, Tomlin would've pounded teams with Henry in the playoffs.

Yea, no Tomlin would not have. Tomlin never would have designed an offense around Lamar in the first place and found way to use his legs like the Ravens did to deal with his growing pains to begin with. They didn't even really get much out of Fields as a runner last year.The creativity and balls Harbaugh showed in ditching Flacco to go with Lamar mid-season, redesigning their offense on the fly...Tomlin never would have done that. Period point blank. Harbaugh is highly flawed, but he was a far better guy to pair with Lamar.

I've legit waited for this for 12-13 years. I'm not the OG Fire Tomlin guy, but I'm one of the oldest.

A lot of fans are just so happy to have Tomlin gone that there is going to be a very real honeymoon period for the next coach in my view. But hey, anything is possible.

Steelers could do worse than Tomlin and maybe they make the wrong hire and SHOULD move on after two years. We'll see. But for the first time in god knows how long, there is a legit chance that they will do what is necessary to get back to competing for championships.

It's not just about the results here. It's about creating a process that legitimately has a chance to do that.

I think part of this for Tomlin is about the reality that this house of cards was real close to collapsing anyway. Just tweaking this roster legitimately may not be enough to even achieve his usual mediocrity at this point. The false hope of even winning a playoff game was even dead anyway.

It's a house of cards that he knows is real close to collapsing and he's stepping aside to avoid being the guy. Next guy is inheriting a mess of a roster with the only saving grace being those draft picks they have stockpiled for this year.

Such a weird career. 19 seasons. 2 SB appearances, 1 SB win, NHALS out the ass. I wish his career was reversed like Cowhers . Cowher struggled to win it all until right at the end so is remembered fondly. Unfortunately not sure will be the same for Tomlin but wish him well.

Cowher made it to six conference finals before he finally won it all. He was always the ultimate dick tease, which is what made that title run so special.

I don't think Tomlins reign quite compared, mostly because of the early exits. He's certainly not Marvin Lewis, for starters he's actually won a super bowl, but his case is certainly aided by his career longevity.

Outside of that initial window with that LeBeau defense, 2014-2017 was probably Tomlins best shot to get a second title He had some bad luck with injuries over that run, most notably Shazier. From then on out it was watching Ben slowly decline, the killer B's disintegrate into ego tripping and money grubbing, and Colbert turning in a spate of appallingly mediocre drafts to deplete the talent.

We probably won't know for sure whether this was mutual or more one sided, you can certainly make the argument that he was just reading the tea leaves, but swiss was ultimately right. I think Deuce would have been fine running it back for at least one more year w/Rodgers and co, Tomlin saved him the indignity of having to axe him. I think he pulls a Sean Payton, sit out a year or two and get back in the game the season after next with a franchise that needs a culture infusion.
