Just Blow it All Up at this Point

Post by smithessmokin » Wed May 07, 2025 2:05 pm

With Pickens being traded, we might as well mail in another season of Pittsburgh Steelers football as we don't have a QB anyways.

Watt- The dumb team will give up a 2026 1st and and more for him (2027 3rd), I'd call Washington right now as they don't have any pass rushers right now. They have a QB on a rookie deal for the next two years, they can afford a Watt extension.

Fitzpatrick- The dude hasn't played like the Pro Bowler we once knew for the last two years. We can get the right team to give up a 3rd/4th for him.

Queen- Wouldn't mind getting rid of him as he's overpaid and not the player he should be, maybe a 4th? Hoping for a 3rd? Indianapolis could certainly use an upgrade.

Heyward- Just ask him what team he wants to go to that could contend...some teams that need DL help and can contend could be the Rams, Lions, Chargers...maybe a 5th?

Then who knows, maybe we trade Tomlin to another dumb team for a 1st...

Then use next year to completely overhaul the roster as well as trade up for the QB they want.

Picks would look like this in 2026:

Round 1
Round 1 (Watt trade)
Round 1 (Tomlin trade)
Round 2
Round 3
Round 3 (from DAL)
Round 3 (comp pick)
Round 3/4 (Fitzpatrick trade)
Round 3/4 (Queen trade)
Round 4
Round 4 (comp pick)
Round 5
Round 5 (comp pick)
Round 5 (Heyward trade)
Round 6
Round 6 (comp pick)
Round 7

Then who knows, maybe we trade Tomlin to another dumb team for a 1st...

Your beloved Steelers should be on the phone with the Green Bay Packers right now

Wisconsin’s own TJ Watt and his deuces would be the final piece to the Packers Super Bowl puzzle

Nah. Green Bay needs more than Watt.

Teams he would potentially take to the SB?

KC, Lions and maybe the Bills.

I disagree

Jordan Love can take a big step forward with two stud rookie targets in Matthew Golden and Savion Williams

Stud TE Tyler Kraft

Great running game with Josh Jacobs and lotta versatility on the Oline

Missing piece on defense?

An elite pass rusher

AND

Wisconsin faithful own the team

Trade him to any team that wants him and will give up a premium pick. $40 million a year cannot happen in Pittsburgh.

I couldn't agree more. This team is well overdue for a reset but WITHOUT Mediocre Mike.

You are spot on.

The Packers had a shitload of excellent young receiver BEFORE they drafted Golden and Williams. The Steelers should be on the phone with them today after the Pickens trade to see who they might be willing to part with.

Love is already a top five QB in the NFC and is rising. That offense is going to be fucking lethal now and while I adore TJ Watt, he would turn a damn good Packers defense into an outstanding group.

The Packers would be every bit Detroit's equal after a trade like that.

It's also unfair to keep TJ Watt in a shotgun marriage.

Far better to be 3-14 than in franchise purgatory with no special draft status.

Tho I question the conventional wisdom that 2026 QB draft will be outstanding.

TJ doesn't care as long as he's paid. He's a pro-Tomlin company man. I'd say trade him, but I don't think it matters until Tomlin goes, so I don't really care either way.

The savvy move, when not paying a franchise QB, is you can actually engineer converting cap dollars into draft picks.

If they extend Watt, and design it with, say, a $50M SB, then many teams will easily be able to fit a difference maker under their cap. Plus, even R1 picks get a nice chunk of guaranteed money. Taking this approach could help upgrade 2 R2s into 2 R1s for TJ.

If I have it correct-

They’ll have about 14 draft picks next year

1
2
3x3
2x4
3x5
3x6
2x7

This includes the picks for Pickens and supplemental picks for lost free agents

No matter how you look at it, there are going to be big changes after this season

I’m wrong on this

It looks like they have 12 picks

The way the OP reads….

Like a self-serving materialistic greedy 10 year old making out the X-mas want list.

The reality is far less exciting and far more disappointing. They’re going to do what they do….ie…fail to impress.

Choke away draft capital on players every fan knows will under-perform and bust while settling for [bout] aged out vets achieving mediocrity.

This franchise embraces stagnation. Not falling to bottom-feeder status but not improving either.

This is our reality. Infuriating!

You can’t give a 31 year old guy with injuries creeping in for 40million. I sure there a team that will be glad to give a top pick for him

The idiot that owns the team as well as the idiot coaches he employs believe they are a play here and a play there away.

Reality is they are light years behind the top teams and particularly the top coaching staffs.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 81 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

That's a great point.

When they had a boatload of picks in the past and a pretty strong roster, they took a bunch of fliers on great athletes but raw football players and pretty consistently whiffed on almost all of them.

This team puts way too much faith in "lottery tickets" rather than having a coherent plan. I guess that's what happens when the goal above all else is a non-losing season. Strive for mediocrity and hope to get lucky, which coincidentally describes how Tomlin approaches every season.

Just imagine if the Stillers got Packers & Lions in a bidding war for TJ. Packers would not want TJ paired with Hutchinson. Lions wouldn't want Packers getting TJ as that could tip the NFC NORF in their favor. The haul Stillers could get would be great.

I know and it saddens me. It's what's really needed too.

Side note: I get the sense that I'm very close to the front of the line for season tickets and I'm having trouble justifying it given the current state of things.

I waited 20 years on the list. Only had them for maybe 3 or four years and I’ve already almost thrown in the towel last year and just paid for this season but it was tough to do.

A lot of people on here talk about stop going to games and buying merchandise etc…

Well here’s what I have done to help:

I gave up my season tickets in 2023….I haven’t been to a game since 2018 . I haven’t bought any merchandise in forever. I’ve watched less and less as my apathy has reached an all time high.

Yet, in spite of all of my efforts nothing changes!!!!

WTF

Aaron Rodgers will get me interested again as I will be entertained by the train wreck. I wanted to Shedure Sanders for the same reason.

Burn it right the fuck down. I am here for that 8-)

I am with you. Burn it down.

I didn’t watch a snap of Steeler football last season except for the Raven playoff blowout. And I loved every minute of that. No merch for me. Refused tickets twice. I’m just not interested any longer. I won’t be rooting for this team until Tomlin is gone. I actively root against the Steelers now. It’s bizarro world!

I can’t believe what Mediocre Mike and Deuce have done to me. Not watching was great. No stress. No being angry. Not a care in the world when they backed into the playoffs and were blown out. My apathy outweighs everything else.

The only way I can see finding my way back is to hear that Tomlin is gone. Fired, retired... I don’t care. Hell, I don’t care if he seizes up on the sidelines and is hauled out on a stretcher never to return. He is the single biggest problem in the organization and nothing changes until he goes. It nauseates me to think this fraud will be getting a gold jacket. Right along side the on-field Tomlin, Scam Heyward.

I’m more interested in the Browns right now and will be rooting for them to humiliate the Steelers this year. Added bonus points if Pickett leads them to the wins.
Mike Tomlin and NHALS - The embodiment of the soft bigotry of lowered expectations.
