Holcomb is the perennial hardhat lunchpailer.

Kenny isn’t that. Holy shit he bombed out.

Does he have drugs to be his excuse
Pickett's ceiling, even when he was drafted, was a Fitzpatrick type backup. That he can't stick with any team is telling. what are the odds he survives the season with a QB starved team?

I read somewhere that Jayden Daniels uses a version of Madden, in VR, to help him with his processing speed

At the NFL level, he’s always going to have a mediocre arm. so it is only long-term chance is depending upon his ability to improve in respect to his processing speed

Hopefully for his sake, he didn’t blow all of his rookie money

Dionte Johnson being cut by the Browns. Quite a career killer he has had in the last 18 months

Using any draft capital, for Anthony Richardson, would be a clear sign that the decision makers are idiots.

Been saying this would happen forever.

Darnell Washington is faster than Woods now and I think it's by a significant amount.

We're gonna be TE heavy anyway so DK, Roman, CAIII and Scotty Miller should be enough.

I agree to a point, because I'm pretty sure they're going to fuck up the #1 QB next April.

Richardson has a shitload of talent and he might thrive in a run heavy system like Smith's.

It also probably takes Mason off the roster and after the way he looked in the preseason, a 4th for Richardson might be worth it.

Can't think of another player that was 360-375+

I've never seen a QB in the NFL struggle to process and read like PIckett. Doesn't have a great arm, obviously, but not bad, either. Just OK. Accuracy was pretty good.

Didn't really get a shot in Philly. Missed most of Browns camp with injury. I think he could surprise in the right situation. No telling how badly our neanderthall offense and extreme risk aversion fucked up his head.

That teams are still trading picks for him suggests they see him as a serviceable back-up with upside. But I'm not rooting for a guy who cried and sulked his way out of PIT rather than compete for a job.

I rooted for him on our team. Wasn’t sure if the media version about him being dealt because he pussed out against the competition for starting QB was true or not. Heard more and more about he actually did puss out and thought, wow.

Then a quick little interview showing him talking had me 100% believe he’s a little crybaby that takes zero accountability. Iirc he was talking about being traded to Cleveland or some mishaps from camp or a game or something and all he did was wine and make excuses. I remember turning the station and commenting about his spoiled little bitch attitude.

Fuck him.

I share your sentiment regarding next year's draft; but would much rather run with the folks they have, than use any draft capital on Anthony Richardson. Plus, he'll available as a waiver wire claim soon enough

I've stopped paying attention to him, once he was traded to the eagles- but yeah- it's abundantly clear he has a serious attitude problem.

In fact, minus that attitude, there's a good chance he's still playing out his rookie contract in the burgh

We're Steeler-centric focused. Fact of the matter is the majority of the QB2s in the league have slow processing ability. If they didn't have this flaw, they'd likely be better QB play across the league.

Anthony Richardson/JF/KP8/etc are all in the same tier for a reason.

100% agree.
Steelers are slow to pull the plug on most of their "home grown" guys. So deep down I thank KP for showing his true colors early so we could move on.

Because if that didn't happen, we'd be in 2027 until we're serious about picking a QB high in the draft.

agreed -- it is the most critical skill for QBs (along with the ability to see the field under pressure - I think the two skills are actually linked) and one of the hardest ones IMO to identify in college QBs. especially ones that run the ball a lot and/or are too often throwing to wide open first reads and huge WR-CB mismatches. next most important IMO is mental toughness -- also very hard to evaulate.

Pickett was waaaayyyyy over-drafted and went to a bad franchise for development. But, it also seems clear now he was mentally soft and unable to plat football under pressure.

I always thought -- NFL spin aside -- it was pretty obvious to most (right when the pick was made) that the Steelers made a big mistake

I agree that processing speed and field of vision probably the two most important traits to be successful in the NFL

But another one that is often overlooked, is the ability to play from under center

That drop back whether in play action or designed passing play from under center, dramatically changes the QBs field of vision

A lot of modern collegiate, QBs are not ready for that in the NFL

Ben’s passing statistics when playing from under center are significantly lower than out of shotgun

People regularly make derogatory comments about Bradshaw’s passing statistics; but failed to mention not just the rule changes, but that he was under center probably 90% of the snaps

Anywho

That processing ability is the main thing that I see from Will Howard that causes me to have optimism about his potential
