Looks like we lost on the Pickens trade
George is having a career year so far in Dallas
Through 6 games he has 525 yards and 6 TDs. Over a full season this would be 1,785 yards and 20 TDs.
Looks like the Steelers made the wrong call, especially given our dire need for a WR2.
And yes, Ceedee Lamb is hurt but that doesn't negate that Pickens is on pace for an All-Pro season.

I hated (/hate) the trade, but in fairness I think it likely that it was communicated that Pickens was 100% holding out the full season if it got to that point.
So i still hate the trade, but on a basis of not wanting to respond to disgruntled players by giving them what they ask for.

That's a funny caveat that we see often.TimmayLake wrote: ↑Thu Oct 16, 2025 2:20 pmAnd yes, Ceedee Lamb is hurt but that doesn't negate that Pickens is on pace for an All-Pro season.
"He's only doing that playing opposite Ceedee Lamb"....."He's only doing that because Ceedee Lamb is hurt and not taking targets from him".

I'm not losing any sleep over it. Pickens is a cancer, and there's no telling what he does after getting a big C2.
Don’t think we’d have DK if we had GP. So they were never playing together.
Let’s see what we translate that 3rd into
But yeah, we all knew he was crazy talented and of course it bothers all of us to see the season he’s having
Oh well

Good point. Reminds me of negotiations with Wallace. They finally told him to pound sand and gave an unusually generous - and early - deal to AB (which obviously worked out for them).
It was overdue with some of these me-first players. When DK became available, it was an opportunity for them to send a "message". Oddly that didn't stop a bunch of other players from holding out there hand for more money this year....
Yea the Pickens experiment had run it's course..Kodiak wrote: ↑Thu Oct 16, 2025 2:49 pmThat's a funny caveat that we see often.TimmayLake wrote: ↑Thu Oct 16, 2025 2:20 pmAnd yes, Ceedee Lamb is hurt but that doesn't negate that Pickens is on pace for an All-Pro season.

I don't mind that he was traded. What I minded was the limp dick return. Believe the Raiders might have entertained a trade along the lines of:
Meyers for Pickens plus a sweetener

Nobody on earth doubts Pickens' talent.
I've said many times he has superstar ability..
But....he's also an imbecile. We saw Pickens do some amazing things his first year in Pittsburgh and overall, he was a good soldier.
As his career continued, his idiocy and then his lack of effort became a problem. Then we had Pickens coming up on a contract year, knowing fully well he wasn't getting paid in Pittsburgh.
His idiocy and lack of effort would have been epic in Pittsburgh this year.
I mean, do you think the Steelers wanted to trade George Pickens? Of course they didn't but he forced their hand.
Also, Dallas could have a Bengals-like situation happening. Very highly paid QB and 2 very highly paid receivers (if they pay Pickens, which is one helluva risk if they do) but Dallas has ZERO defense. Cincy has zero defense and zero offensive line.
I still believe Pickens' idiocy will rear its ugly head in Dallas, just like it did in Pittsburgh. If it doesn't this season and he lands a huge contract (good luck with that, Jerrah) his idiocy will reveal itself at some point. Dude can't help it, he's nuts.

I was on record as hating this trade. There was a pice about it on first take today. Orlovsky, who I think is one of the best analysts, said while Dallas definitely "won the trade," they need to throw 40 plus times a game and score 40 points. Steelers don't. He said that DK & Pickens would be two of the same and wouldn't work. He does think Steelers should be calling jets, dolphins and saints to land one of their guys and that would make Steelers legit SB contenders.
For me, I think CA III is legit #2. Rodgers clearly likes him, hopefully he's back next week but Steelers need a #3.
Also, pretty unanimous that Rodgers has made the difference with this team, not gaudy stats but leadership and decision-making

The Steelers didn't trade Pickens because of a lack of talent. They traded him because he was a cancerous cunt.
I think his crazy will be his undoing in the league and it may not be too long from now. Dallas may not be able to afford him. He chases the money and ends up in a bad spot, and the crazy is going to rear it's head again.

Think of the autistic kid that hates loud noises, and he gets stuck at the outdoor daycare center next to the airport….and the jet blast is facing the day care center. Kid will have a hard time.
For Picken’s the loud noises were the wind sprints all game long from average QBs, inept OCs and a head coach that thinks of offense as an albatross around his neck.
That was Pickens undoing and we will continue to get separated from generational offensive talent until we get a legit FQB or a new head coach.
I would have tuned into the Steelers just to watch George Pickens. I hated the trade.

When Pickens pulled a Diontae Johnson and started only hustling when he felt like it, GP had to go.
End of story. You cannot, at any time ever on a football field, not go 100% and Pickens started going 20% quite often.
It would have been worse this year, with a great QB or not because, again, Pickens was never seeing a second contract from the Steelers.
Never, for the reasons above.
Oh and I'm sure Pickens would have loved playing across from a guy the Steelers traded for and paid $150 million to eventually replace Pickens altogether.
I wish Pickens luck in Dallas but down the road, especially if they pay GP, Dallas is gonna need all the luck in the world handling him.

Addition by subtraction
To say Pickens is an idiot is an understatement
IF he were on the team - here is what they’d be dealing with
- likely hold out
- 5 or fewer targets p/game
- sulking
- throwing fits
- general attitude issues and sowing discord in the locker room
He was never going to fit on this team
His attitude is why he’s gone.
They want no part of his behavior

Talented guy but a complete shithead. Crazy George wore out his welcome in Pittsburgh, that's why they only got a 3rd. No one was paying a premium for an assclown like him.
He'll still meltdown in Dallas too. Ceedee is back this week. Wait until Lamb cuts into his target share and they're losing games. It's only a matter of time.
Steelers will end up with Shaheed or Jakobi. They are not trading a 2 for Olave.

Besides, they're going to need that money to extend Aaa-Ron.
We all know it's coming. The stars finally align to face a 4 seed riddled with injuries, and Boswell boots a 65-yarder to win. Extensions for Tomlin, Rodgers, Cam and all around to run it back because DEY'S A CONTEN-DAH!!!!!!

And yet his effort hasn’t been lacking in Dallas this year despite not knowing if they are going to resign him either.we had Pickens coming up on a contract year, knowing fully well he wasn't getting paid in Pittsburgh.

You know, if the team you are on isn’t going give you another contract then you are essentially auditioning for the 31 other teams out there. Especially in a contract year.
I’ve never disputed that Pickens isn’t a first class idiot, asshole, chump, punk-ass, and certainly a hard no in terms of giving him another contract.
But even dipshit thug idiots know when to behave when they have serious money on the line.
I suspect that Pickens will be a good lil boy this year (as his agent has most certainly advised him) so they can dupe some team into giving him a contract.
And some team will unless he goes full AB before year-end.
Now he might have some bi headed personal fouls or other dumb shit this year. But nothing so egregious that makes Scotty fucking Miller a better option.
As I’ve said, we were better off simply allowing him to play for his next contract.
If he acted up you either bench him or suspend him for conduct detrimental and end up right where we are with Scotty Miller playing WR 2.
Even the dumbest fucks tend to fall in line during contract years.
So far that is what he’s been doing.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 81 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Why didn't Pickens give 110% in 2024, headed into a contract year in 2025?
You know, it's very possible that if Pickens doesn't act like a dickhead in 2024, busts his ass blocking downfield (no way on earth Pickens is in a position to make a block like Calvin Austin did during DK's long TD catch and run vs the Vikings. No fucking way on earth. Pickens would be walking back to the huddle), doesn't have moronic sideline outbursts (I can only imagine what a dickhead he was in the locker room) and imbecilic retaliatory penalties on the field, just maybe the Steelers pay Pickens big money before this season and never make the big trade for DK Metcalf.
That might be something to consider.
Pickens literally played his way out of Pittsburgh. He loafed, bitched and committed moronic penalties in a year that determined whether the Steelers would pay him or not. Also, you want Pickens to be the #2 receiver in Arthur Smith's offense, which is TE and run heavy? Where the WR2's see maybe 3 targets per game? You think Pickens would be good with that? I sure as fuuuuuck don't.
Also, as much as I loved watching Pickens ball out (when he felt like balling out) I do not believe for one second he would have made a good complimentary receiver opposite DK Metcalf. DK is a deep ball burner who also thrives when he gets the ball quick and can use his speed and physicality. You want a good route runner opposite Metcalf and route running has never been George Pickens' forte. He's too similar a player to DK Metcalf except Pickens is better than Metcalf at contested catches and Metcalf is better at getting open deep.
Pickens would be miserable in this offense as the WR2, seeing a few targets per game and he would destroy the locker room and the chemistry this team has.
He's a shithead, plain and simple.
He'll do idiotic things in Dallas before this year's over. Count on it.

You seem stuck on so much that’s irrelevant here. I get all the stuff you are saying and not disagreeing.
I just think we should have let him play out his deal while doing so in a contract year.
If Jibbs and our locker room is that weak it would allow a dipshit like George Pickens to destroy it that says more about us than it does him.
If he acted up you bench or suspend him and insert Scotty Miller.
I think DK, Pickens, and CAIII on the field together creates huge problems for any defense.
But we aren’t offensively minded in that regard. We need to protect the locker room (because our coach and “leaders” are too weak to do so) while making sure Connor Heyward gets some snaps in our multiple TE set formations.
This team is dumb.
As is Pickens. Something I’ve not argued.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 81 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
Did we lose on the Pickett trade too?
Or whatever happened there....

I am just saying they had a chance for Pickens not to go full idiot if Tomlin wouldn’t have gone full tard picking assistant coaches! If Pickens came in with a well oiled offense I bet we would have gotten a more serious and mature take of George Pickens’ debut. He entered the league and experienced a joke of an offense with the worst OC in the history of the NFL. Of course our wide receiver turned into a lemon running sprints all game and blocking like a practice dummy. That is what irks me!

very happy for Pickens.
I was glad he got traded from this pathetic team, this pathetic organization and this pathetic head coach.
You can’t blame the guy. His earnings are based on stats. He was getting almost no touches in the Pittsburgh offense and he did what was best for his career and his earnings. He got the hell out. He isn’t Hines Ward, and this isn’t Cowher’s Steelers. He’s an amazing receiving talent and he’s proving it in Dallas.
If the Steelers had a real culture and some team leaders, maybe Pickens could have been reeled in his rookie year. But they don’t. They have Mike Tomlin… Mr. Rooney Rule. Mr. Too Cool for School, who doesn’t have any idea how to build a team first culture. Every one of his “star” players, like Watt and Scam Heyward, are ME FIRST assholes, worried about their stats and their contracts, not leading the team and building a winning culture.
Pickens learned what works from the team leaders. Good for George.
