CF college championship week

Post by jebrick » Sun Dec 07, 2025 1:27 pm

I rest my case for Mendoza being the #1 QB.

K. McDonald SHOULD be drafted by the Steelers. 2nd round would be a good pick but not with the current regime. They like 3 techs with no sand in their pants

Sayin looked like he was a RS freshman up against a complex defense. Too bad it took the coaching staff 3 quarters to make make adjustments.

On a side note: Big10 championship game was one of the worst refereed games I have seen for the no calls. The IU LT "move" to just drag down the DE when he got beat IN FRONT OF THE REF is criminal. They showed at least 2 of them so I'm sure it was more often.

IU defense showed what you can do with good coaching when you do not have the talent/money of the opponent.

Simpson looked like he needed another year in school but he is an old man so I expect he will come out.

Love Bell on the Bulldogs but not sure where he fits in the NFL. I guess I would have to have confidence in the coaches to make use of him.

Texas Tech will be a tough out in the CF playoffs.

I know a person who loves Darian Mensah as an NFL prospect. I just do not see it until the 3rd round at the earliest.
Speaking of Duke, Vincent Anthony Jr. Should be getting talk as an EDGE rusher.

• What a mess. Will Bama and BYU be punished for the ass kickings they took in the now pointless conference title games? They sure should be.

• BYU should absolutely NOT be in the CFB playoffs. How that team made it through any schedule with only one loss I’ve got no idea.

• Bama? No bigger fan of that program than me, BUT they now have 3 losses including a resume breaker to Florida State way back in week 1. I have a feeling the committee keeps them in, but I think that’s a mistake.

• How meaningless is the ACC and their “championship” game? The winner won’t sniff the CFB playoffs! Disband that garbage conference already.

• Vanderbilt and Diego Pavia the bubble team I most want to see in the playoffs not James Freakin Madison (insert puke emoji here).

• Best team money can buy. Sure it’s impressive the Red Raiders went from the 122nd ranked defense to the 4th ranked defense in one season, but that’s what NIL can do for you. They’ll get a round 1 bye, but I’m guessing they’ll get quickly bounced going up against the big boys.

• “What are you a janitor? A garbage man? I know, you’re a shoe salesman!” “Noooo, I’m a great white hooter hunter!” Texas Tech DT Lee Hunter is quite the load in the middle of a stout Red Raider front 7.

• I got Bill Cowher vibes watching Texas Tech LB Ben Roberts post game interview.

• Ahhh this is more like it! Some hittin’ goin’ on in the SEC title game!

• Georgia LB CJ Allen is just built different.

• If Georgia fails to win the Natty, it will be thanks to OC Mike Bobo and his WR screen obsession. Maddening.

• Speaking of Bobo, he’s going to get QB Gunner Stockton killed. He’s not a running back ya half a meatball!

• Speaking of Gunner Stockton. The WR screens tell me they don’t trust him to throw the ball down field.

• Best TE room in the country and Mike Bobo ignores them in the biggest game of the season. Shit off stupid human being who I now detest.

• Good on Kirby for losing his shit on Denello Jones after his beyond stupid taunting penalty. JUST WALK AWAY. How fucking hard is it?

• Georgia RB Nate Frazier will be a 1st round draft pick next year.

• Zachariah Branch a wicked fun player that only Mike Tomlin can ruin.

• Georgia is a complete, well balanced team, they CAN win the national title IF Kirby doesn’t coach scared (See chicken shit, conservative 2 minute drive before halftime)

• Ryan Williams still can’t catch.

• Tim Keenan is a wide load.

• “Remember Danny, two wrongs don’t make a right, but three rights make a left…” I’m not jumping off the Ty Simpson bandwagon. Mike Bobo is a hot garbage OC, but Ryan Grubb across the field says, “hold my beer.”

• Brutal OL play lead to jailbreak pass rush and -3…that’s -3…rushing yards. Somewhere, Bear Bryant rolled over in his grave and Nick Saban rolled off Miss Terry.

• Grubb did dial up a very cool trick play where Germie Bernard caught a 20 yard pass then threw the ball to sundial slow Daniel Hill on the other side of the field. Wicked cool play actually, but too little, too late.

• I sooo wish Kalen Deboer took the Penn State job. His sideline mannerisms annoy the shit out of me.

• Speaking of Penn State. That snobatorium fanbase probably thinks they deserve better than Matt Campbell, but they don’t even deserve Matt Campbell. Solid hire. I was hoping for MUCH, MUCH, worse.

• What a season for the Indiana Hoosiers! Congrats to resident fans KC and Smith on your first ever BIG TEN TITLE!

• I missed Game Day due to kid’s sporting event, but it’s weak sauce ESPN doing their usual shilling for the SEC. The BIG TEN title game up in Indianapolis was the correct location.

• Fernando Mendoza won’t have to pay for beer in the state of Indiana the rest of his life. Tough kid. Gamer. I’m glad Tomlin won’t have a chance to ruin him.

• Ohio State fans? Yikes. Brian Hartline can recruit those stud WRs, but I don’t THINK OC is his strong suit. Ryan Day might want to grab those play calling duties going forward.

• My son’s former HS teammate Kayden McDonald is him. Elite run stopper in the middle of that elite Buckeye front 7.

• Buckeye edge Caden Curry a proud carrier of the bad motherfucker wallet. Dig him.

• Buckeye LBs Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles could BOTH go in the top 5. Studs.

• Buck up Buckeye fans. A loss like that is sometimes a necessary attention getter for a team that wasn’t tested all season.

• Fansville is fantastic, but that Dr Pepper halftime chest pass challenge has to go. I can’t change the channel fast enough.

• Who puts jalapenos in their Coke? That’s just wrong.

Roll Tide!
Go Dawgs!!
Go Skenes!!!
Gooooo Livvvy!!!!!!!!!

Both teams got fucked over by calls in that game. There were numerous holds on IU defensive linemen that weren't called. One of the funnier moments was when Sayin was sacked for about a 15 yard loss, escaped and was able to throw the ball away.

IU was still credited with a sack because Sayin was considered in the grasp. Obviously, OSU fans were pissed. When you watch the replay, Sayin got away and was able to throw the ball away because the OSU o-lineman who was stuck to Sayin while he was in the process of being sacked, literally had ahold of the IU d-lineman's facemask, for a good while and it wasn't called.

Exactly as Gus Johnson and the other dude in the booth said, the refs decided they weren't going to call shit on either team when it came to holding. They simply left both teams play and a whole lot of holds, again by both teams, weren't called.

Also I haven't checked the stats but someone mentioned that IU was called for twice the amount of penalties that OSU was.

I agree. I do not like ND but they needed to make it.

ND over Alabama had an argument, as did Duke or Boise St. over JMU.

* The conference championship games need to go away (Don't tell that to Hoosier fans)

*This week needed to be round 1 of the playoffs

* The 12 (16) BEST teams get in

* To wit... Notre Dame, Vandy, and Texas would WIPE THE FLOOR with JMU and Tulane (see Ole Miss ass whipping of the Green Wave)

* Alabama does not belong in the top 12. No bigger Bama fan than me, BUT The Tide have SUCKED the past month

*WHY has the Tide sucked (aside from Deboer)? TY Simpson has a back injury. Friends of my Bama friends have a source in the athletic training room (their daughter works there).

* No more committees. Shot after shot of these mopes staring blankly at the TV in some random lobby and yet they could not have mucked this up more if they tried.

* That said, I don't want computer rankings either unless someone MUCH smarter than me comes up with some fool-proof mathematical formula to determine the 12 (or soon to be 16) best teams.

* I've posted this a time or two in the past but I would do away with POST season bowl games. Notre Dame taking their ball and going home should NOT be an option. If I'm a donor to that school I'm not a donor anymore. What kind of QUITTER message are you sending to those KIDS most of whom are not sniffing an NFL career?

* Sooooo instead of the MEANINGLESS Bowl games, Id go with a 16 game playoff. The final 4 hosted at the big boy bowls, Rose, Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta (and a rotation system for the National title game).

*The Pop-Tart bowls? Those get played to START the season. Instead of crappy ass week zero, LABOR DAY weekend becomes a HUGE kickoff for the college football season. This eliminates the sour grape schools like Notre Dame from skipping AND takes away kids from skipping to prepare for the NFL draft.

* The next part of my plan involves creating a new division. I actually like the FCS playoffs with the Montanas and Dakotas etc. BUT now we need a NEW, separate playoffs for these Tulane, JMUs, Boise State level of schools who have NO BUSINESS in a playoff with the Power 3 schools. I don't know what you call it but it's somewhere below DI but above the old D1AA.

*Finally I disband the ACC. GARBAGE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. Go with a Power 3. Florida St and Clemson absorbed into the SEC. Miami and maaaaybeee VA Tech go to the BIG TEN. The rest? Well, I drop Duke and UNC into the Big 12 creating one helluva basketball conference. Wake, Stanford, BC, Cal, UVA types probably belong in the new division below the power 3. The rest can go into the Big 12 as well.

*Pitt? I HATE that you've become soooo irrelevant so I'll GENEROUSLY allow you to resume your rivalry with WVU in the new BIG 12

* I actually like Notre Dame being an independent, but those whiny bitches might want to consider following Miami into the BIG Ten.

*Long rambling rant short, I LOVE the CFB playoffs, BUT HATE that I have to watch Tulane and JMU against ANYBODY!

* AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

They can't decide themselves. If you are going to force conference champions into the playoffs then you have too many teams in the playoffs. I think what they fear is that if you take the "best teams in CFB" it will be the same teams year after year in the playoffs and fans find it boring.

Yes Jebrick I agree

Having the same teams in the playoffs every year probably isn't the best business model to appease the CASUAL college football fan.

Seeing Clemson and Alabama in the 4 team playoffs year after year a big reason they expanded to 12 teams.

Cast a wider net

BUT

With NIL the competitive balance already WAY out of whack (see Texas Tech buying their way in) you're probably stuck with the rich schools fielding the best teams year in, year out (save maybe Texas so long as Sark keeps his job, oof).

I'm not sure making some kind of example out of one of the biggest brands and fanbases in CFB was the committee's brightest move. But either way a HUGE fanbase was going to be pissed be it Notre Dame or Alabama.

Was it worth keeping Notre Dame out so a few thousand Tulane and JMU alumni can be happy and have false hope their schools actually have a shot at a Natty???

Hell no.

And HELL NO, I'm not pacifying Joe Nobody in New York City or Potato Pete out in Idaho.

Not my fault they don't have a viable school.

They're CASUALS

Placate to the diehards here in the South or Midwest regions of the country.

Big name schools in the big conferences get the bids

THOSE fans drive interest and RATINGS

The ham 'n eggers simply DON'T.

Hence my idea to create another division AND another playoff for schools outside the Power 3 (2).

The Group of 5 need their own playoffs.

They can have their own national title just like the FCS schools.

So now you're only pissing off the Northwesterns, Arkansas, West Virginia's of the world who due to their inclusion in the Power 3 have next to zero shot into the playoffs, but at least their schools benefit from big conference TV money etc.

Tulane can have their Group of 5 Natty with their ohhh so big win over James Freakin' Madison.

Whaaatever

KEEP THEM OUT OF MYYYYY PLAYOFFS!

They are not picking the best 12 teams, they are trying to make it more like the basketball playoffs by choosing conference winners however, they can't pick five loss winners like Duke so this is a compromise.

As far as ND, it's their own damn fault for not just joining the ACC (which they are in other sports) and they would have been in that lousy championship game.

The team with the biggest legit gripe is Vandy.

I'm with you, Dan

Vandy and Pavia the team I most wanted to see in the playoffs.

Their loss to Texas was probably what twisted the TINY brains of the committee into a pretzel.

Only having two losses should've been enough to get them in over Bama AND Definitely those two scrub Group of 5 teams.

ND mostly plays their cupcake independent schedule and they pay for it but it comes from not wanting to share the money of their TV deal.
