Tomlin made sure to credit that Minter guy at the top of his press conference for the Chargers win. The guy is massively insecure underneath the surface level confidence and his hatred of the Harbaugh's probably played into that.

On the other hand, the O sucked all night long. Outside of the garbage time TD there was rarely a moment when the looked even barely competent. The combo of their turnovers and the safety gave the Chargers almost half of the their points.

Not absolving the D but the majority of the reason we lost falls on the D shoulders of the Offense. The coaches put together terrible plan and the players were mostly incompetent. Any signs of life for the O at all and this game may have been competitive.

The soft underbelly of the defense was on full display the whole night. If Rodgers and the offense had gotten the lead at any one point, the Chargers would have run right through us when it mattered.

Tomlin’s philosophical approach has absolutely ruined this team and organization. I watched and knew immediately that something needed to be done to get Rodgers going early. He needed a 2 minute or no huddle offense in the first quarter to snap him and the team out of it…so obvious to anyone that knows this team. Yet Tomlin wanted the super conservative 3.25% yield and he got it! Fuck him!

We all want the 15% YTD yield on our Steeler 401K, but Tomlin has the whole account in a 3.25% high yield savings account!

Late in the game, down 20, Arthur Smith still had multiple TE's on the field for a 2 minute drill. That's how they like to play. Late in the game when Wilson caught that meaningless garbage time TD, that was the first time all night the Steelers had their top 3 WR's on the field at the same time. It's beyond bizarre but that is Arthur Smith/Mike Tomlin football.

Sadly as much as I hate Tomlin, tonight's problem was Rodgers.

I htink his finger is really fucked up. Everything was high or overthrown. They had a chance to take control of this game early, but he kept missing open receivers.

Next week, we better get the Rodgers from the first Cincy game, along witht he defense from the Colts game.

That was on my list of stats to look up. I knew it was one in my heart. But I went to passive watching the game after the Dicker’s 59 yarder; back and forth on YouTube videos.

As I said in the game thread and elsewhere, Rodgers needed a 2 minute/no huddle drill early to snap the O out of the funk. Should have run 5 in a row to The Washing Machine after he forced the first reception! Would have helped his high balls.

How can Wilson make plays if he’s almost never on the field and never targeted? Christ Jonnu Smith, who looks like he runs about a 5.9 40 time now is out there in the 2 minute drill with Freiermuth and DK. It’s ridiculous the amount of personnel changes that take place each series.

Reminds me of 12 year old girl’s soccer or basketball.

Everyone has to play and play a lot.

….and it would be the exact same scenario had they landed a big time #2 receiver before the deadline too.

If you're closely following Roman Wilson, you should be able to see what I'm talking about in terms of his usage. He NEEDS to be put in scheme positions where he can run away from people. Short-area motion into the slot, route combos on the 2 or 3 side where he can catch in space and run.

The Steelers' offense is static and lacks imagination in terms of route structures and usage corresponding to skillset of the receiver. Wilson isn't really going to shine until they have a new OC and a new offensive mentality.

I mean, obviously you’re right and using motion would give Wilson an advantage but we both know the Steelers won’t do that. Still, Roman gets open but Rodgers seems predetermined as to where he’s going with the ball. On the bomb in Cincy to DK that was easily picked, Wilson ran underneath DK and was wide the fuck open for a 25-30 yard gain. They had another long overthrow yesterday where Wilson came open, but Rodgers over threw someone (probably DK) and those are just bad decisions.

Tomlin’s an idiot but Rodgers was terrible yesterday (and he was pretty bad in the Colts game) and it might be time to worry about him. He locks on to a receiver and only on the rare occasions he escapes pressure, will Rodgers look elsewhere. He played panicked football yesterday, sometimes unnecessarily.

The offense the past three weeks has been very Kenny Pickett-like. They've truly had only two really good offensive showings this year, vs two of the worst defenses in football, NYJ & CIN. Their defense gave up 65 points in those two games!

Next week sets up to be the antimatter version of last night: An offensive explosion version of the defensive dominance of last night. It could be a Last-Team-With-the-Ball kind of scenario.

This loss was directly on the offense. Had opportunities for big plays and TD's early and Rodgers simply misfired.

Then ran himself into a safety, like a retard. Don't get me wrong. Rodgers has been a revelation so far at the QB position for the Steelers but he played scared last night and I think that pinkie finger is definitely bothering him.

His accuracty has been waaaaaay the fuck off.
